Sum 41

Firstly, the bad news: Sum 41 are splitting up after 27 years. And that’s a shame. The Canadians have always remained pure punks and unpredictable outsiders, far more than such contemporaries as blink-182, Good Charlotte and Green Day. Sum 41 was the first rock band to sign with Def Jam, the pre-eminent hip-hop label. They are among the highly select number of bands who have met the approval of Liam Gallagher. The band is as fresh today as the NOFX cover band they started out as back in 1996. That was the beginning of an adventure that brought us such timeless classics as ‘Fat Lip’, ‘Waiting’ and ‘In Too Deep’. And now for the good news: Sum 41 are not leaving us without new music - ‘Heaven x Hell’ – and a farewell tour. It’s going to be a beautiful parting.
