The Hives

The Hives are five Swedes who have been making the world’s wildest garage rock for the last thirty years. Their shows are incendiary, the energy bursting from the stage. The eccentric vocalist Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist and his brother Niklas are always challenging the audience. They all wear matching suits, too. Each album and tour comes with a new outfit, always in black and white. The Hives create theatre. But always theatre with balls. They have finally released a new album after an eleven-year wait: ‘The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons’ (2023) concerns the imaginary sixth member of The Hives with whom they like to mess around. Randy is the band’s fictional manager and songwriter. Quintessentially Swedish, the album was recorded in the studio of Benny Anderson of ABBA.
