The eponymous début by Bad Omens is a phenomenon. ‘Bad Omens’ (2016) was a hit on three of the Billboard Charts at the same time: Rock Albums, Hard Rock Albums and Independent Albums. This says a lot about the range and popularity of the Los Angeles metalcore band. They were founded in 2013 by vocalist-guitarist Noah Sebastian who left the band Immoralist to do his own thing. Bad Omens’ savage breakdowns and singalong choruses evoke contemporaries like Bring Me The Horizon and Periphery. On ‘The Death of Peace of Mind’ (2022) the group took a great leap forward in all aspects. Basses and synthesizers took the lead and provided extra punch. Producing themselves was also liberating.
