The Armed

The Armed call themselves “the world’s greatest band”. Maybe they really do think that, but they say it first and foremost with a wink. For years, the actual membership of the Detroit collective was shrouded in a dense fog. Everything was anonymous. All that was said was that there were a lot of people involved. You see, the rule is that anyone who does anything for The Armed immediately becomes a member. Hence the “greatest”. As in “largest”. ‘Perfect Saviors’ (2023) finally cast a light in the darkness after fifteen years. There are six core members of The Armed. Along with a couple dozen extras. On the new album, these include Iggy Pop, Josh Klinghoffer (ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers), Troy Van Leeuwen (QOTSA) and the rhythm section from Jane’s Addiction. Mysterious shenanigans aside, The Armed is actually a really good band.
