Scowl

Scowl was born out of love. Kat Moss told her friend Malachi Greene, a bassist with a fine pedigree, that she would love to sing in a hardcore band. They found three friends to join them. Scowl appeared at a moment when the American coastal city of Santa Cruz was bustling with new, exciting bands. This was the so-called 40831 scene, featuring the likes of Drain, Gulch and Sunami. Scowl underwent a growth spurt and started to experiment with new influences. The music contains clear traces of the grunge of Nirvana, the noise rock of Sonic Youth and the hip-hop of the Beastie Boys. Since 2022, the quintet has toured almost continuously, with a memorable set at Coachella 2023 among the highlights. Post Malone and Hayley Williams (Paramore) are already big fans.
