Rise Against
America: land of despair, faded glory and hardcore punk. Rise Against hail from a lineage that counts Bad Religion, Descendents and Millencolin as its forefathers. The vegan, alcohol-free and smoke-free quartet from Chicago signed with Fat Wreck Records in 2000 – the label founded by Fat Mike, frontman of NOFX. After two albums, the band caught the attention of a major label. Siren Song of the Counter Culture (2004) became their first US gold record and marked their departure from the underground. Now ten albums deep with Ricochet (2025), Rise Against continue to spread their brand of melodic hardcore across the globe. They did so memorably in 2012 at Werchter: ‘... whipping up a seething mosh pit and sending hordes of fainting fans to the first-aid tent...’ (Gazet van Antwerpen).
