The Rumjacks

Nothing kicks off a party quite like an Irish band. The Rumjacks follow in the footsteps of The Dubliners, The Pogues and Dropkick Murphys. They might come from Australia but they are 100% Irish. ‘An Irish Pub Song’ (2011) has become a popular singalong on Saint Patrick’s Day, the Irish national holiday. The song complains about how wily entrepreneurs have commercialised and trivialised the concept of the jolly Irish pub in Australia. The accompanying video has been viewed nearly 100 million times on YouTube. The Rumjacks are now five albums, two live recordings, a new singer and a move to Europe further down the line. The onstage energy is astonishing, and you’ll find yourself singing along with their songs by the second chorus - even if you’ve never heard them before.
