The Gaslight Anthem

One of the mainstays of the American indie scene is back.  The Gaslight Anthem announced a comeback in 2022 following an absence of many years. They backed this up with their first album in ten years, ‘History Books’ (2023). The title track is a duet between frontman Brian Fallon and superfan Bruce Springsteen. It all makes sense, because The Gaslight Anthem’s sound is a combination of The Boss during the ‘Born to Run’ (1975) era with the energy of the Ramones. Like Springsteen, the band come from the American state of New Jersey. They form part of a long, local tradition of punchy, catchy rock songs about the lives and sorrows of ordinary people. It will be nice to see them again. The Gaslight Anthem’s last appearance at Werchter was in 2013.
