The New Eves
The New Eves is the group you didn't see coming. But they welcome you with open arms. The Brighton-based female foursome's instrumentation includes violin, cello, double bass, harmonica and flute. And their debut album The New Eve Is Rising (2025) has something rough, dangerous and unfinished about it. 'As if you stumble upon an occult ritual during a nocturnal walk in a remote forest,' says Dutch music site 3voor12. Think of PJ Harvey's album Let England Shake (2011). Or The Last Dinner Party. Or an all-female version of The Velvet Underground. These are solid comparisons for a fledgling band. But The New Eves live up to them like a breeze. The group pairs clever experimentation with perfection. Brilliant rubbish, so to speak. Or big hag energy as they themselves call it.
