Darren Kiely
He is five years old when he learns to play a tin flute. Violin and guitar are added a few years later. There's no doubt about it: Darren Kiely is a full-blooded Irishman. He complements his traditional folk training with more modern influences like Noah Kahan, The Lumineers and Mumford & Sons. Shortly after initial recognition in his native country, Kiely moves to the United States. There he finds the clean slate and utter anonymity he considers necessary to evolve further artistically. Via New York, he ends up in Nashville, the capital of country music and a popular meeting place for aspiring songwriters. His house style becomes increasingly clear. Kiely can be recognised by his sweeping vistas, psalm-like song structure and tales of farewell, doubt and hope.
