Health and safety

The most beautiful time of the year is here. Experiencing live music together connects. For a few days, the festival forms a close and especially unique community. The safety and health of our festivalgoers, artists and their crew, employees and local residents is always our top priority. Enjoy, party, dance and sing as loud and as much as you can but above all do it safely and responsibly. Feel Good Rock Werchter. Need any help? Then we and our partners are there for you.

First aid

The Red Cross is ready for small and large concerns. The first aid stations are clearly indicated at the Festival Park. The MUG team from UZ Leuven is also on hand at all times.

We Care A Lot

Under the umbrella of 'We Care A Lot', Extrema Outdoor, Graspop Metal Meeting, Rock Werchter, Tomorrowland, Festival Dranouter and Pukkelpop joined forces in 2023 with a clear commitment: to ensure that festivals run as healthily and safely as possible.

We want everyone to feel welcome and comfortable. The festival is a place where you can be yourself, free from discrimination, intimidation, or inappropriate behavior. Everyone is welcome in the Festival Park, regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, culture, religion, ethnicity, or disability.

Our staff are trained to be vigilant and respond appropriately. Specialists in various fields support us, and you can always turn to a confidential counsellor. The We Care A Lot hotline is available 24/7 during the festival. You can also contact the team discreetly via the Rock Werchter app.

Be sure to also visit the We Care A Lot stand near North West Walls. There you will find information and support regarding well-being and health, including a focus on the 5 A's regarding transgressive behavior: involving others, distracting, isolating, addressing, and remaining present.

The Milk Factory

Are you breastfeeding and would you like to express milk on the festival grounds? You can do so at The Milk Factory, a specially equipped and discreet room. You can express milk in peace, clean your equipment, and store it safely. The expressed milk can be kept in the refrigerator until the end of the festival day (collection in the evening). Please bring your own: breast pump, bags, cooling packs, bottles, and other personal supplies.

Safe concerts

As is the case at every major festival in Europe, crowdsurfing is not permitted in Werchter. This allows festival-goers at the front to fully enjoy the concerts without having to constantly watch out for surfers. This makes it more pleasant and, above all, safer for everyone.

Safety structures are provided at the stages to enhance comfort and safety. Safety corridors with sturdy barriers ensure that our staff and emergency services can intervene smoothly and that crowd pressure is better absorbed.

For safety reasons, wheelchairs and folding chairs are not permitted in the first zone in front of each of the stages.

There is a solid floor in front of the Main Stage. KluB C and The Barn are also fully floored.

Large video screens are located on the sides of the Main Stage, The Barn, and KluB C so that you can follow along from further away from the stage. Additional screens are set up on the outside of The Barn and KluB C.

Please note: some performances feature stroboscopic light effects. These may affect visitors who are sensitive to photosensitive epilepsy.

Rock Werchter = drug free festival

The use and abuse of alcohol and drugs is a societal issue that festivals also have to deal with. In Werchter, too, this issue is present to a limited extent, and a small group of visitors may pose a risk to themselves and others.

As an organization, we take responsibility for this, together with government authorities and emergency services. We work based on a shared vision and an integrated plan of action. Drugs are not permitted at the festival. Alcohol is consumed consciously and in moderation. The approach combines prevention, awareness-raising, guidance, and enforcement. Various partners work closely together on this, including the organization, local and federal police, the Public Prosecutor's Office, emergency services (Red Cross and UZ Leuven), the Province of Flemish Brabant, and prevention services (Center for Mental Health and local prevention officer).

Inclusive festivals

Together with Inter, Rock Werchter is making efforts to make the festival accessible to people with disabilities. We pay attention to the accessibility of the festival site and its surroundings for visitors with specific needs. Read all about our collaboration with Inter.
