Max Newbold posts a call on Instagram in December 2019, looking for musicians in the Birmingham area for an indie band. Overpass is set for its first sold-out club concert when Covid strikes. It's a blessing in disguise. The lockdown means there's heaps of time to talk about music and make songs. They put them on TikTok, which explodes just then. Word of mouth does the rest. Overpass tours the UK in the slipstream of Inhaler and Two Door Cinema Club and quickly becomes big. The four are still at university when they fill the great hall - capacity 1500+ - at the O2 Institute in their hometown in the spring of 2024. Birmingham remains the starting point. They don't see the hustle and bustle of London as their thing. Their debut album Elsewhere, Always (2026) is to be released a few days before Rock Werchter.
