Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats
From bad luck to very good luck indeed. Nathaniel Rateliff had to quit his job as a lorry driver because of a sleep disorder. He learned to play the piano – he could already play drums and guitar – and made a folk album that earned him a support slot on Mumford & Sons’ 2010 European tour. Rateliff only really came into his own when he discovered blues and soul and put together a sharp backing band. The American talk show host Jimmy Fallon provided the last decisive shove in 2015. A performance on his Tonight Show elicited this tweet the next morning: “That guy the other night - son of a bitch”. Yours truly, Paul McCartney. Nathaniel Rateliff and his Night Sweats present the hottest soul revue available today.
