Johnny Marr

The Smiths’ attention magnet was Morrissey. But without the musical engine of Johnny Marr - born John Maher – he wouldn’t have got anywhere. His highly original guitar playing ensured that the best British band of the ‘80s was easily identifiable among thousands. It also inspired later luminaries like The Stone Roses and Oasis. After The Smiths, Marr got involved in numerous projects and released his first album under his own name in 2013. He has now released four, all of which reached the top ten of the UK charts. He collected the best of them last year on ‘Spirit Power’. When he plays live, he picks out the best moments of his jam-packed career. From The Smiths, to Electronic – a project with guitarist Bernard Sumner from New Order – to the great Johnny Marr.
