Franz Ferdinand's first performance at Werchter in 2004 is festival history. During their hits ‘Take Me Out’ and ‘The Dark Of The Matinee’, the audience went wild. ‘The people entertained us as much as we entertained them’, said frontman Alex Kapranos afterwards. Mission accomplished for the Scots who wanted to make guitar rock sexy and swinging again. Along with contemporaries like The Libertines and The Strokes. Over the past 20 years, the group has continued to refine that concept. Along the way, the angularity of the early days was mixed with white funk and synthpop. But it remains delightfully and recognisably Franz Ferdinand. They are bringing with them their new album The Human Fear (2025) which, like its five predecessors, was recorded quickly and spontaneously. Remarkable and beautiful: sixth album, sixth Rock Werchter appearance. Regulars, in other words.
