As a child, Dublin-born Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson (CMAT for short) dreamed of becoming a ‘global celebrity pop sensation'. Her superpower is an extraordinary talent for turning every day's small misfortunes into tragicomic stories. She moved to Manchester where she became frontwoman of the electropop group Bad Sea. None other than Charli XCX advised her to change direction during a song-writing workshop. Thompson returned to Ireland and devised a mesmerising mash-up of pop, humour and country. She has posters of Dolly Parton and Katy Perry on her bedroom walls. You could call it EURO-COUNTRY - and let that be the title of her breakthrough album, too. The single 'Take A Sexy Picture Of Me’ (2025) has been aired constantly for the past few months.
