In 2022, BLUAI (pronounced ‘blue eye’) won the most important talent contests in Flanders in a matter of months: De Nieuwe Lichting (Studio Brussel) plus Humo’s Rock Rally 2022 plus Sound Track. The group started as photography student Catherine Smet’s bedroom project. She built an all-female band around her – intentionally, but with a side note. “Our success is built around a strong friendship. We send out nothing but love, friendship, and great music. That we’re women is just an added bonus.” The band’s creative influences are contemporary indie folk and ‘90s soft guitar pop. Their songs cover life’s greatest distractions: relationships, love and broken hearts. In March 2024, the trio released the album ‘Save It for Later’.
