Snow Patrol is joining the party in 2024. Bono’s favourite band formed thirty years ago as Shrug. They took their current name in 1997. Amiable frontman Gary Lightbody cites the pride of Belgium, dEUS, as one of his great creative inspirations. It all took off in 2006 with ‘Chasing Cars’, which has since hit 1.2 billion streams on Spotify alone. A couple of years ago, this emotionally charged song was declared the most played song on radio of the century in the United Kingdom, beating the likes of Black Eyed Peas and Pharrell. Other international crowd-pleasers include ‘Shut Your Eyes’, ‘Just Say Yes’ and ‘Called Out in the Dark’. The Scottish band has recently slimmed down from a five-piece to a trio. They’re marking their big anniversary with a new album: their eighth.
