Tom Smith
Sometimes people want to go back to square one. Over the past 20 years, Tom Smith has been able to tick off his entire artistic wish list with Editors, including Belgian trophies like two gold singles and six appearances at Rock Werchter. All that time, he had desire to one day present his songs in the simple form in which they were originally made. There was an intimate interlude with Andy Burrows (formerly Razorlight) as Smith & Burrows. But now Smith is taking some me-time. His debut solo album There Is Nothing In The Dark That Isn't There In The Light (2025) relies on acoustic guitar, piano, emotion and a voice that gets all the space it needs to make itself heard. The Brit presents himself as a modern crooner with a feel much like Richard Hawley, Kurt Wagner (Lambchop) and Matt Berninger (The National).
