Mogwai

Mogwai have pioneering in their DNA. In the mid-nineties, the Scots were there at the start of what was later to be known as post-rock. If you ask them, that description is too much of a stretch. Rock without lyrics would be more accurate. The foursome is good at creating epic pieces of music in which they play softly and quietly and/or exuberantly and darkly. But always very loud. No group has blown so many PA systems. Mogwai shuns the limelight, choosing to live underground, as independently as possible. Nevertheless, they attract a large and loyal following. Fans of Mogwai also like Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Sigur Rós and Tortoise. The group can count Robert Smith (The Cure) and Black Francis (Pixies) among their musical friends. Their unusual name comes from the furry creatures in the film Gremlins (1984).
