Man/Woman/Chainsaw
Man/Woman/Chainsaw are associated with the Windmill Scene – a movement rooted in experimental noise rock that took shape around five years ago at the Windmill pub and concert venue in London’s Brixton. Notable names to emerge from the scene include The Last Dinner Party, Shame and Squid. The six-piece Man/Woman/Chainsaw present themselves as a louder counterpart to Black Country, New Road, another flagship act of the scene – but with two vocalists, Billy Ward and Vera Leppänen, and an added violin. The band sound soft and raw at the same time, thrillingly unpredictable throughout. American music magazine Rolling Stone believes the band are capable of inventing something entirely new. A great deal of groundwork has gone into that. After four years, 150 shows and a run of singles, their debut album is finally on the horizon.
