Adrian Quesada's Trio Asesino
Adrian Quesada can get to Werchter blindfolded. After all, he has already been on the bill twice with Black Pumas, the rock-'n-soul project the Texan shares with rapper Eric Burton and which he drives forward musically. Quesada is an adventurer. In an earlier musical life, he was the flywheel of Grupo Fantasma, a Latin-funk orchestra with which he won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock Album in 2011. His solo work heads in the same direction. Boleros psicodélicos (2022) and the follow-up Boleros psicodélicos II (2025) are born out of his fascination with freaky Latin American ballads from the 60s and 70s. It is relaxing music therapy for which Quesada manages to bring on board super guitarist Marc Ribot, Money Mark (see Beastie Boys) and Hermanos Gutiérrez, among others.
