Sleaford Mods are a pair of working-class men in their fifties who are concerned with everything that is wrong with today’s Britain. And that’s quite a lot of things. Andrew Fearn and Jason Williamson present themselves as spokesmen for the oppressed. Song titles like ‘Right Wing Beast’, ‘UK GRIM’, ‘Big Pharma’ and ‘Jobseeker’ need no further explanation. The only weapons the duo needs are a laptop and a microphone. Andrew makes the beats and loops while his pal rants in his unrefined Nottingham accent. The result is a political newsflash you can dance to. Sharp, elegant and to the point. Imagine the Sex Pistols and The Prodigy together in a club. “Dangerous and perfectly pissed off”, says the British newspaper The Guardian, and rightly so.
