Róisín Murphy is always looking for adventure. This quest takes the queen of electropop to places where most of her contemporaries never go. Not unlike Björk, the Irish singer combines the avant-garde with a certain playfulness. And she’s always larger than life. The colourful album displays great depth without ever taking itself too seriously. Her secret weapon is the German DJ Koze, who was given free rein to assemble an infectious dance album. Murphy sprinkles the whole thing with a dash of glitter. At any rate, she can do no wrong at Werchter. After three concerts as the frontwoman of Moloko – the first in 1996 – she’s performing for the fourth time under her own name.
