As kids, brother Clyde and sister Gracie Lawrence from New York listened to records by Aretha Franklin, Randy Newman and Stevie Wonder. That motivated them to make their own music. Clyde came up with the theme tune to the film ‘Miss Congeniality’ (2000) at the age of six. Impressive. Though it should be noted that their father, Marc Lawrence, scripted that movie together with Sandra Bullock. The Lawrence family’s enthusiasm was infectious: the original duo grew into group of eight friends who love partying and fun. The result is “high-energy, high-musicianship, keyboard-driven, blue-eyed soul-pop” which caused a furore in the USA. The American entertainment magazine Variety named Lawrence as the great revelation of Coachella 2022, along with a certain Stromae.
