DEADLETTER

It’s always helpful and educational when new bands state their influences. For DEADLETTER, The Pogues and Tom Tom Club are the – sadly defunct – bands that they would have liked to share a concert poster with. The Pogues because no other group has ever managed to cause quite as much chaos, and Tom Tom Club because of their incredible bass lines. While DEADLETTER have certainly learned from their precursors, the sextet from South London operate on a different wavelength. The angular rhythms, the smooth grooves, the dark stories full of black humour and the shredding sax are drawn from the likes of The Fall, Gang Of Four and LCD Soundsystem. In 2023, the group played in Belgium eight times to promote their first singles. That deserves a reward.
