Yong Yello is the stage name of rapper and producer Yello Staelens. The ‘Yello’ comes from the Swiss electronic band of the eighties. The ‘Yong’ was added when he became the youngest member of the Antwerp hip-hop collective Eigen Makelij. The youngster studied music production in Ghent and made a name for himself behind the scenes. He’s the creative sparring partner of Glints, has done production work for Noémie Wolfs and provided beats to Tourist LeMC. However, the nerd who loves to mess around in the studio also longed for the stage. In 2020, Yello reached the final of De Nieuwe Lichting (Studio Brussel) and made his grand entrance with the album ‘Marcel En Het Magnetisme Van De Goot’ (2021). Radio 1 listeners voted ‘Waanzin’ into the Belpop 100, the list of the best Belgian songs of all time. On Studio Brussel, Yong Yello and his pals Glints and Faisal present the hip-hop show Abattoir Anvers.
