The rightful winners of Humo’s Rock Rally 2016. The five band members of Whispering Sons are from Limburg but are based in Brussels. They are the children of The Cure, Joy Division and Sisters of Mercy, and they are doing a great job of it too. ‘If this band had been founded in the early Eighties, it would have wiped the floor with its contemporaries,’ said a connoisseur. They used the prize money to record their first album in a snowed-in studio in the Belgian Ardennes. Despite their disconcerting sound, the tracks from ‘Image’ (2018) received a lot of play. Their single ‘Alone’ raced up the chart of both De Afrekening (Studio Brussel) and the Vox Top 30 (Radio 1). Berlin, Riga and Athens have also already been introduced to the sound of the Whispering Sons.
