Weezer is the kind of band that invites fans on a cruise with them or brings out a "Christmas with Weezer" game. They are supergeeks, these Americans, and there's nothing wrong with that - It makes for 24-carat pop songs. Imagine The Beach Boys with roaring guitars. Formed in the dying days of grunge, Weezer released one of the best albums of the 90s, "Weezer" (1994), featuring the anthem singles 'Buddy Holly' and 'Undone - The Sweater Song'. The road may have been bumpy after that, but the beauty kept shining through (‘Island in the sun’, ‘Hash pipe’, ‘Beverly Hills’). For one of the fans this year they covered Toto's 'Africa', which became an unexpected smash. Weezer last played Werchter back in 2001 and, before that, in 1995.
