Don’t be misled by the name; the guys from Walking On Cars are not the type to walk on car roofs. Rather they are nice lads from Dingle, one of the more remote towns in Ireland. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, it's an inspiring location. The Cranberries and Snow Patrol are known to have headed there in the past when in need of inspiration. The isolation also worked for Walking On Cars. The five-piece rented a house without a television or internet and spent half a year doing nothing but writing songs. They recorded their first single in 2012 with the money they won from a song contest. ‘Catch Me If You Can’ was in the Irish charts for half a year and established the group’s name. With the release of ‘Speeding Cars’ (2015) Walking On Cars also took off abroad. The song represents everything they’re about: piano-driven emo-pop with plenty of catchy tunes. Comparisons with Bastille and The Script are inevitable. They are going to be just as popular.
