Ruby da Cherry (Aristos Petrou) and $lick $loth (Scott Arcenaux Jr.) are a pair of wild boys; two white kids who grew up in a black district of New Orleans. Their musical paths were originally far apart. Ruby loved hardcore (Minor Threat) and punk (Leftöver Crack). Cousin $lick worked as a DJ and producer. The net result is $uicideboy$ and a lively sound. Their style has been labelled horrorcore, SoundCloud rap, glitch trap and/or rap metal. Suitably raw with an abundance of references to drugs and Satan; though they say this is mainly imagery aimed at renouncing devilish influences on humanity. After a truckload of EPs and mixtapes, their official debut came in 2018 with ‘I Don’t Wanna Die in New Orleans’. The album went straight into the American top ten immediately upon release. The hype went through the roof.
