White on the outside, black on the inside. Tom Misch is a young white Londoner who digs groove, funk and jazz. He was infused with a love of black music at an early age by charismatic pianist Robert Glasper and sadly missed hiphop producer J Dilla. They pointed him in the right direction and packed him off to do music technology and jazz. It started with Misch posting the odd track on SoundCloud. The work has a catchy vibe and hype is the inevitable outcome. Misch became the poster boy for a promising new beat scene in London and effortlessly attracted 2.5 million listeners a month on Spotify. But for him all that is outstripped by having his heroes, De La Soul and American rapper GoldLink, play on his debut album 'Geography' (2018).
