‘Ireland is the new home of punk’, according to a recent header on the - otherwise very chauvinistic - British music site NME. It's all happening in Dublin nowadays. Life in the Irish capital is peaceful although anyone listening to the songs of The Murder Capital might be forgiven for thinking exactly the opposite. The band sounds like the end of the world might come at any time. They are just as brazen and socially conscious as IDLES, the sledgehammer of Rock Werchter 2018. And they have some pretty good support. Their debut single ‘Feeling fades’ (2019) was produced by Flood (Nick Cave, PJ Harvey and Soulwax). The Murder Capital is a rocket that is steeped in the sound of Fugazi and Gang Of Four. Fun and fury, performed live with murderous intensity.
