The Marcus King Band is a group of long-haired youngsters who play soulful rock’n’roll. The man whose name they bear is only 24, but has been doing it for ten years. Marcus is the son of Marvin King: a familiar name in blues circles. His other teachers are not too shabby either: Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks played in The Allman Brothers Band for years. The Marcus King Band’s debut also came out on Haynes’ label. ‘Soul Insight’ (2014) was the start of a tour that seemingly never stops. The concerts are joyous occasions, thanks in part to the three-piece horn section that uplifts the blues rock. ‘Caroline Confessions’ (2018) helped the band to become better known outside the US. The guest of honour is Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), who helped write the song ‘How Long’. Auerbach remains at his side. He also expertly produced his Marcus King’s solo debut ‘El Dorado’ (2020).
