At the age of 18, the Kid LAROI is already in possession of two global hits and the phone numbers of Justin Bieber and Marshmello. He was born Charlton Howard in a suburb of Sydney. Both parents were professionally involved in music. He started to deal with his difficult childhood through mesmerising raps with infectious beats and melodic hooks. Howard’s inspiration comes from The Fugees, Tupac and Kanye West. A competition on the alternative radio station Triple J put him on Juice WRLD's radar. The late American rapper took the Australian under his wing and launched him with ‘Go’ (2020). Not long after, Howard went global with ‘Without You’, a song featuring Miley Cyrus that reached #1 in this country. His artist name is a tribute to his great-great-grandfather: one of the 100,000 children of Aboriginals who were separated from their families. His given name was Kamilaroi.
