Sea Girls is the only rock band in the BBC Sound of 2019, the list of the 10 best new bands of the year. To date, Sea Girls hasn't released a full album yet, but the band will be performing at all the interesting festivals in Great Britain and beyond this summer. And they deserve to because Sea Girls produces artisanal indie pop. They seem to want to prove us that you can make an impression even if you keep things simple. The Kooks and The Vaccines also demonstrated this recently. Fun fact: the band's name was inspired by ‘Water’s edge’ (2013), a song by Nick Cave, in which he sings ‘these city girls’ at a certain moment. According to Sea Girls guitarist Rory Young, he actually sang ‘sea girls’.
