A British beauty with a Greek father and a Jamaican mother. Lianne La Havas wrote her first song at the age of eleven, guided by Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone. She only learned to play guitar years later. It didn’t stop her from developing her own style; maybe the late start had something to do with it. In 2012, she joined Michael Kiwanuka and Frank Ocean at the top of BBC Sound Of 2012, an annual list of promising acts. Her alternative folk and soul were very popular among her peers. She sang on records from alt-J and Prince and toured with Bon Iver. On her latest album ‘Lianne La Havas’ (2020) she took full artistic control for the first time. She grabbed this opportunity with both hands. She bares her soul in a most compelling way and sings an impressive Radiohead cover.
