Lianne La Havas is a British beauty with a Greek father and a Jamaican mother. She wrote her first songs when she was 11, with Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone as her guiding lights. She only started playing the guitar at 18, but that didn't prevent her from developing her own distinctive style. Or perhaps it’s the late start that made her so unique? She stood shoulder to shoulder with Michael Kiwanuka and Frank Ocean in the BBC Sound Of 2012, a list of the most promising new music talent. La Havas’ lucky star is still shining bright. Her alternative folk and soul are much loved by her peers. She sang with Prince and alt-J and toured with Bon Iver and Coldplay. After two years of radio silence, she suddenly announced that her third album was ready. We can’t wait to get to know it.
