The songs of Johanna and Klara Söderberg sound like ‘country classics that haven’t yet been written’ (in the words of Humo). This is remarkable for two reasons. The sisters are in their twenties - which is very young to be writing evergreens. And they live in Stockholm, several thousand kilometres from the United States, the birthplace of country. Yet from the outset First Aid Kit received a lot of interest from the Americans. Jack White came to Nashville to take a look and soon afterwards brought out a single on his Third Man Records label. And Emmylou Harris is completely in love with the single ‘Emmylou’. With their third album, ‘Stay Gold’ (2014), the duo won the whole world over. The sudden success was all a bit much and so the sisters decided to go off and do something else. Klara took acting lessons and Johanna studied Japanese. ‘Ruins’ (2018) is another feast for the ears; pure and exquisite, just like in the old days.
