Emma Bale started out as a fragile girl with an acoustic guitar and has come a long way. At the age of 17 she won an MIA for Best Solo Female: the youngest winner ever. And she had a run of mega hits: ‘All I Want’, ‘Fortune Cookie’ (with Milow) and ‘Run’, the Lost Frequencies radio edit of which had 60 million streams. And then everything changed. Bale caused quite a commotion at Pukkelpop 2017, where in a crowded Dancehall she transformed from singer-songwriter to pop princess in the mould of Ellie Goulding and Dua Lipa. A year on, Emma Bale 2.0 went further and made a big impression during a mini-concert in Werchter. ‘Enough to underline her craftsmanship,’ said De Morgen. Her latest single ‘Divide’ (2022) shows that her blend of pop, R&B and electronica is completely on point. Time to blow up.
