“Hard to describe but easy to fall in love with.” These were the warm words with which the BBC recommended Easy Life to the public at the start of the year. Easy Life’s members earned their stripes in reggae, funk and various other energetic bands in and around Leicester, a city in the drizzly heart of England. One evening in the pub, they decided to do something together. Without having to worry too much about entertaining people or selling records. Just for fun. And it worked. The long songs with too many solos and freaky moments went down particularly well. Their first album, ‘Junk Food’ (2020) - subtitled ‘a mix tape from your favourite band’ - drifts between R&B, hip-hop and jazz and is as good a match for summer as sun lotion and ice lollies.
