The Bombay Bicycle Club rides again. After a lengthy sabbatical, the London indie rockers resurfaced at the start of the year with ‘Everything Else Has Gone Wrong’, rather by accident. The original plan was to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their debut ‘I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose’ in 2019. However, it didn’t seem right without new songs, so they went looking for successors to classics like ‘Always Like This’ and ‘Shuffle’. Bombay Bicycle Club have the right people for the job. Guitarist Jamie MacColl is the grandson of the man who wrote the classic ‘Dirty Old Town’ and his aunt was the late Kirsty MacColl. The band’s name suits the melancholy undertone of the music perfectly. In the 19th century, this club was a popular meeting place for British army officers stationed in India.
