Black Honey have been dubbed “the UK’s best rising band”. The band makes fresh sounds with wailing guitars, bright colours and filmic accents. “Incomparable”, says the ever-biased British music press. Listening to their eponymous debut evokes names like Blondie, Garbage, Lana Del Rey and ‘90s shoegaze bands like Lush and Mazzy Star. The foursome from the British coastal town of Brighton worked on it from 2014 to 2018 and you can hear it. They have given each of the 21 songs exactly what it needed. Even if that’s a full classical orchestra in some cases, paid for out of their own savings. They consciously released ‘Black Honey’ (2018) on their own label. Independent, honest and addictive.
