Adrianne Lenker grew up in a religious sect. She was playing music in bar from the age of twelve. Her first album came out a year later. She had a troubled relationship with her father. But that bizarre upbringing was not all bad. It has served as an immense source of inspiration for what Lenker has since done with Big Thief. So much so that the New York quartet released two albums in 2019 ‘U.F.O.F’ and ‘Two Hands’ have both been praised as essential, contemporary story collections. Big Thief make carefully-composed folk rock with a lot of human warmth. Their music reaches full fruition on ‘Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You’ (2022), considered a milestone in their career. Again, there is no shortage of inspiration. The record is 81 minutes long.
