Back again after last year. And what a year it’s been for Angèle. The Brussels singer has proven to be the epitome of the Breakthrough category. So good that she might even turn out to be the most successful female Belgian singer ever. In terms of pedigree, she has it made. Her father appeared at Rock Werchter in 1982 with Allez Allez, and her brother is Roméo Elvis. The context is also perfect. The story fits, right down to the finest detail. The videos and the artwork are radiant, the songs exude hit potential and there is a subtle humour too. The presentation of her debut, ‘Brol’ (2018) was a real victory parade. Early in the year, she sold out both L’Olympia and Le Zénith in Paris, as well as the Forest National. Later in the year these were followed by venues such as the Lotto Arena, Paleis 12 and Le Zénith (three times). Next stop: the world!
