Alec Benjamin’s first promotional text on Spotify was one of devastating simplicity: "I’m Alec Benjamin. I’m from Arizona. I live in Los Angeles. I sing. I play guitar and piano. I got signed and I got dropped. I played in the lines of Shawn Mendes concerts to get fans. I handed out a ton of business cards. I wrote a bunch of new songs. The first one is called ‘Let Me Down Slowly’’. At this point the tale took a turn for the better. That first song was streamed a billion times and John Mayer, his favourite artist, started following Alec. Benjamin’s strength is easily explained. He writes sensitive stories that, despite the abundance of personal detail, are universal. In other words, this young man is ‘real’. The mega-success of ‘These Two Windows’ (2020) is proof of this.
