Florence + the Machine also at Rock Werchter 2012
A new confirmation for Rock Werchter 2012: FLORENCE + THE MACHINE! It’s a somewhat complicated name for a simple recipe. Florence is the young British entertainer Florence Welch. A woman from a privileged background who dreams of a career full of creative twists and turns like Björk, Kate Bush and PJ Harvey. Florence has a well-oiled ‘machine’ around her in order to achieve this goal. This powerful group includes her good friend, Isabella Summers -also known as ‘Machine’- on keyboards. All the right names worked on her debut album ‘Lungs’ (2009): James Ford (Simian), Steve Mackey (ex-Pulp) and Paul Epworth, the man who helped Bloc Party, Kate Nash and Jack Peñate along the road to success. Epworth also took charge of the work on its follow-up, ‘Ceremonials’ (2011). His group have since turned out to be a winning team. Things took off for Florence + the Machine from the very first single, ‘Kiss With A Fist’. The group is beloved of British critics and is fast conquering the rest of the world with ‘Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)’ ‘Dog Days Are Over’, ‘You Got The Love’, a smart cover of an old soul tune, and recently with ‘What The Water Gave Me’ and ‘Shake It Out’. The big surprise of Rock Werchter 2010; this year’s ‘dream date’. On Sunday July 1 on the Main Stage! It was previously announced that RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS and JUSTICE will appear at Rock Werchter 2012. More names to follow.
