Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol

SUNDAY - MAIN STAGE

Bono’s favourite group and maybe the most popular British rock group of the moment. Despite all the praise and their status, it’s been an uphill struggle for Gary Lightbody and his Scotland-based Northern Irish band. Snow Patrol had already been going for almost ten years when the single ‘Run’ (2003) broke through in the UK. Here we had to wait until ‘Chasing Cars’ (2006). Until then, only the most fanatic of followers were aware that they had been the support act for U2 (Koning Boudewijn stadium) and dEUS (Vorst). By the way, Lightbody has been a fan of Tom Barman & Co. from the start. In his opinion, dEUS is ‘one of the best bands of the world’. Since ‘Eyes Open’ (2006) things have taken their own course.  This album – their fourth – was the bestselling album on the other side of the Channel that year. They toured with Coldplay and U2. In the Low Countries, ‘Shut Your Eyes’, ‘Take Back The City’ and ‘Just Say Yes’ have taken them to the top of the festival bills. Five years on from opening for dEUS, Snow Patrol sells out the Vorst Nationaal in 2011 themselves.
