Skream ft. Sgt Pokes
THURSDAY - PYRAMID MARQUEE
The King of dubstep! Skream was the first one on the scene and is one of the best and most productive names in the genre. As a teenager Ollie Jones worked in the record store where it all began: Big Apple Records, in the south of London. At first he sounded very hard and dark. Gradually he started to add dub, house and jazz to the beats. ‘Midnight Request Line’ (2005) was the song that catapulted dubstep from cult to mainstream. Skream was barely 21. He travelled the world like a superstar DJ and made a name for himself as a producer with remixes for La Roux and Bat For Lashes. And things even picked up speed when he founded super band Magnetic Man with old friends Artwork and Skream. The trio became major in Great Britain and Belgium. Last year they were phenomenal at Werchter. Skream was not able to be there then. Compensation: Skream will bring good friend Sgt Pokes, of the DMZ crew and also official MC of Magnetic Man, to Werchter.
