Other Lives

Other Lives

SUNDAY - PYRAMID MARQUEE

The American state of Oklahoma has endless horizons and impressive natural landscapes. Other Lives come from the village of Stillwater, at the crossing of the US117 and State Highway 51, and sound just as wide as impressive. Initially the band made sound paintings without lyrics under the name Kunek. But that trail proved a bit too narrow. Even though something stuck: Other Lives are rather called an ensemble than a band. They were quickly noticed by bands that matter to them: Bon Iver, The Decembrists and The National. They recorded their self-titled debut with Joey Waronker, the drummer of Beck and R.E.M.. A number of songs ended up in the television series ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and stirred up interest even more. ‘Tamer Animals’ (2011) sounds like a fusion of Ennio Morricone, Sigur Rós and Fleet Foxes. Thom Yorke (Radiohead) asked Other Lives to join him for a tour of the United States in the spring of 2012.
