Noah and The Whale

Noah and The Whale

SATURDAY - THE BARN

People who like Mumford & Sons and Fleet Foxes, will also like – maybe without knowing it – Noah & the Whale. The London folk rock band make similar romantic and dreamy earworms. Noah comes from the American movie director Noah Baumbach. The Whale is taken from a movie of that guy: ‘The Squid And The Whale’ (2005).  With their debut ‘Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down’ (2008) they immediately took the lead in the blossoming British folk scene. The band pulled out all the stops with the single ‘5 Years Time’ and roamed all the major British folk and rock festivals. Laura Marling left the band, right after the release of the debut album, to stand on her own two feet.  Charlie Fink, the man behind the band, steamed ahead with enormous dynamism and added electronics to his introvert modern folk. The initial cheerfulness got a dark and exciting lining. The latest and third album ‘Last Night On Earth’ (2011) is a tribute to youth and the night. With author Charles Bukowski as advisor.
